
The 2025 Theme is ‘Buy Better, Be More’
Come along to Planet Wimborne's annual Green Festival to meet local groups and hear about all the great environmental activities going on in the town and surrounding area.
The Festival is going from strength to strength and we believe we have something for everyone: from the Minster Fair on the first Saturday to craft workshops, walks and talks spread throughout the week. (Some of the events are ticketed, even though many are free - see links further down this page for tickets.)
The Green Festival will be opened at 10:30am on Saturday 11th October (on Minster Green) by Paralympic silver-medal-winning canoeist Jack Eyers, with Wimborne’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Simon Wheeler; Town Crier, Chris Brown; and Planet Wimborne Chairperson, Linda Bunting.
We are excited to announce that Patrick Grant, from the BBC series ‘The Great British Sewing Bee will be speaking at Queen Elizabeth’s School on Saturday 18th October.

'When Less is More' with Patrick Grant

Patrick Grant from the hit BBC series, The Great British Sewing Bee, has a lot to say about clothes: how many we buy, how we value them, what they’re made from, and importantly who made them and where. He’s an outspoken advocate for radical change in the fashion and clothing industry, for moving beyond sustainable to circular and regenerative.

Meet Vikki Slade, our local MP, to hear about her first year in the Houses of Parliament and ask questions about her views on protecting the environment. This event is for 8 - 18 year olds. 'Shine so bright the future can see you' theatre workshop
This is a two hour creative arts workshop for young people imagining a greener future together in Wimborne’s Forest Garden (next to the Wimborne Community Centre, King Street). This workshop is for 11 - 18 year olds.

Journaling 101: Make your own Journal
Learn how to easily create your own handmade notebooks in this fun and simple session. You will look at what papers you can use, how to add pockets and how to sew a simple binding as well as an even easier elastic band method! We’ll have a selection of printed covers you can colour in and embellish or create your own. We’ll also touch on journaling ideas - such as mood and habit trackers, nature journaling, reading journal etc. You only need to book one Workshop - they are both the same. Upcoming events
As part of the 2025 Planet Wimborne Green Festival, we've issued a challenge:
Submit a photo of an outfit for an event or activity, accompanied by a title explaining the event or activity it is intended for.
The outfit and any accessories should include at least three pre-loved items from three different sources.* (Existing own clothing/items can be included, but nothing new apart from haberdashery, i.e. ribbons, buttons).
Competition closing date: 6th October.

10:30am on Saturday 11th October (on Minster Green) by Paralympic silver-medal-winning canoeist Jack Eyers, with Wimborne’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Simon Wheeler; Town Crier, Chris Brown; Planet Wimborne Chairperson, Linda Bunting; and The Quarterjacks Marching Band.

Cyclists: Get your bike postcoded by the Police and recycle old inner tubes with Schwalbe.
Walkers: recycle old boots with Cotswold Outdoor.

Please arrive at 10.15am for a 10.30am start for the tour. The tour should last between about one and one and a half hours. Please wear appropriate clothes and foot wear for this outdoor tour, which will require a reasonable level of mobility.
