Like all good things, the Wimborne Green Festival 2024 has come to a close. And what a week of events we have enjoyed - we firmly believe there was something for everyone. There were some great firsts this year as well - from putting out the community flags (literally) to herald the start of the Festival; to live streaming and recording talks; to running workshops in schools.
The theme of Rivers was so apt given we are blessed with the Rivers Allen and Stour on our doorstep. Starting with the children's poetry competition, followed swiftly by the Green Fair, litter picking, craft workshops and talks - including the marvellous Dr George McGavin - the list goes on. As does our thanks to all those who took part whether presenting, leading or turning up to our events. The Festival does seem to have hit the right notes, as we have had great feedback.
We hope you were inspired by what you have seen, heard, felt, or even tasted, to get involved in some shape or form to help tackle the climate and ecological crisis. The crisis can seem to be overwhelming and what we sought to do throughout the Festival, was to showcase all the great work that is already happening here and welcome you all to join in. Please sign up to the Planet Wimborne Newsletter (see link on our home page), so you can see what else is going on and might encourage you to become a volunteer. Also, take a look at all the Community Groups under the Planet Wimborne banner to see if there is something that takes your fancy. Whatever you choose to do, we hope to see you all again at our next event.

You can now watch two fantastic talks from the Green Festival from the comfort of your armchair:
The links are here:
Bronwen Fraser and Sadie Potter talking about the River Allen Nature Recovery Project (There is a pdf file of the slides used which you may wish to open at the same time so you can see the slides better)

We express our thanks to the speakers for allowing us to share their talks.
We hope you enjoy the talks.
