Date/Time
12 October 2025
13:45 - 16:00
This is a two hour creative arts workshop for young people imagining a greener future together in Wimborne’s Forest Garden (next to the Wimborne Community Centre, King Street).
The workshop is guided by Tony Horitz, State of Play – drama teacher, writer and community theatre director with 40 years experience in the field of outdoor and indoor drama and creative arts. It is for young people aged between 11-18 years interested in or concerned about, the environment.
What is it?
An informal, creative workshop using drama and other accessible art forms. It will offer time and space for young people who love nature and are concerned about the climate crisis to slow down and open up their imagination together with like-minded others. Many of the ideas have been inspired by the words of the wonderful young Mexican environmental activist, Xiye Bastida https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXGTNROtJkY.
What will we do?
We’ll try to relax and ‘be’ in nature – in the particular environment of Wimborne’s lovely Forest Garden. We’ll do non-threatening drama games and exercises to help us get in touch with imagination, feel stronger and more focused. When people are ready, we can share our hopes and fears for now and the future through words , movement and music.
What’s the point of it?
To find our own voice and our own path – to practise walking slowly but strongly, alone and connected to others.
To find the ‘star’ in our heart. In this way, we’ll answer Xiye Bastida’s ‘ask’ to young people to ‘Shine so bright the future can see you’
Do I have be a good actor?
No. Great if you already love acting. But it’s for anyone and everyone, regardless of experience or disability.
