WHAT IS SECOND HAND SEPTEMBER?
Second Hand September is a campaign to encourage people to buy only second hand items for 30 days in the month of September.

Each year, people like you joining this sustainable style challenge inspires so many more people to shop in a way that is kinder to people and planet.

Following Litter Free Dorset's campaign and the devastating heath fires of 2022, Southern Co-op committed to permanently removing disposable BBQs from sale - and they now have 8000 surplus units in storage. To ensure that we find the best route for this stock, Litter Free Dorset and Dorset Council are working with W&S Recycling to repurpose/reuse the component parts and send a message to other retailers that they too should be making this move.

Prevent, Inspire and Repurpose

1. Prevent food waste at source by storing food optimally, making use of every edible part of the ingredient and planning meals ahead of time
2. Inspire others to waste less, and repurpose more
3. Repurpose food by redistributing any surplus to your local community, or giving a second life to ingredients that most commonly go to waste
